Xiaomi Introduces SU7 Electric Vehicle Lineup with Three Variants, Starting at $30,000

Today, Xiaomi announced its highly anticipated EV, the SU7 sedan. The launch event revealed the full range of features and introduced three configurations, one more than initially presented at the “Tech launch” event in December 2023.

The base model features a 299 hp rear-mounted motor and a 73.6 kWh 486V battery, boasting a claimed range of 700 km on the CLTC standard. It can recharge 310 km of range in just 15 minutes. The starting price for this trim, without additional features, is RMB 215,900 (€28,000).

For those seeking extra range, the SU7 Pro has a 94.3 kWh battery, extending the range to 830 km, while retaining the same rear motor as the standard model. This configuration is priced at RMB 245,900 (€31,700), aligning closely with the pricing of the Tesla Model 3 in China.

At the top of the range sits the SU7 Max, featuring an 871V architecture and a 101 kWh battery capable of up to 810 km per charge. According to Xiaomi’s estimates, with a dual motor AWD setup outputting 495 kW (673 hp), it can recharge 510 km of range in 15 minutes. This model is priced at RMB 299,900 (€38,700).

Xiaomi’s advanced Pilot Pro self-driving system will be standard across all trims, including an Nvidia Orin chip, LiDAR system, and 11 cameras. The Pilot Pro feature is set to launch for user testing in April and will expand to several Chinese cities in May, with a nationwide rollout scheduled for August this year.

The interior offers several customizable options, including a fridge, Nappa leather seats or Oeko-Tex seats, a 25-speaker Dolby Atmos-tuned setup with some speakers integrated into the driver’s headrest, two screens for the back seats, which are essentially repurposed Xiaomi Pad 6S Pros, and a 56-inch adjustable HUD.

The infotainment system provides a wide range of features and seamless integration with Xiaomi phones while welcoming Apple users with CarPlay support. Optionally, iPads can be integrated into the back seats instead of Xiaomi’s tablets.

Customers who order by April 30 will receive complimentary perks such as Nappa leather seats and a fridge compartment. Shipments for the standard and Max SU7 variants are set to begin at the end of April, with the Pro version scheduled for the end of May.
