WWE Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley Required to Vacate Title Due to Injury

WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will relinquish her title due to an injury sustained in a recent backstage altercation with her arch-enemy Liv Morgan.

Earlier this month at WrestleMania 40, Ripley successfully defended her title against Becky Lynch, continuing a remarkable tenure in the WWE that began with her victory over Charlotte Flair at last year’s WrestleMania. During the latest broadcast of Monday Night RAW, the Australian wrestler tearfully announced her decision to step down as champion, expressing her deep emotional connection to the title. “This championship has been my life’s pinnacle, and parting with it now is incredibly tough,” she stated.

Post-announcement, as she exited the Monday Night Raw venue, WWE executive Paul “Triple H” Levesque shared a poignant embrace with Ripley, later expressing his support on social media: “I have absolutely no doubt that Rhea Ripley will return more resilient, powerful, and commanding than before. Thank you, Rhea, for a championship reign that has made the entire WWE Universe proud,” he wrote on X.

The method by which WWE will select the next Women’s World Champion in the wake of Ripley’s departure remains to be announced.

Rhea Ripley’s extraordinary reign as champion lasted 380 days, a milestone she proudly recalled in a recent tweet that celebrated her unparalleled legacy in the sport.
