Updated Fees for New Car and Motorcycle Driving Licenses in Karachi

In Sindh, any resident aged 18 and above can legally apply for a driving license to operate a vehicle or motorcycle throughout the province. The Sindh Police’s Driving License Department is responsible for issuing driving licenses and permits to drivers who demonstrate a thorough understanding of driving laws, ethics, and road safety across all cities in Sindh, including Karachi.

This official document grants the holder the authority to drive various motor vehicles on public roads. In Karachi, many licenses are issued in the combined car and motorcycle category, reflecting the common ownership of these vehicles among the city’s residents.

Karachi citizens looking to apply for a car and motorcycle license must complete the duration of their learner’s permit and then schedule an online pre-appointment to proceed with their application.

Once a pre-appointment token is obtained, applicants are required to physically present themselves at the relevant driving license branch with their original Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC).

Applicants then undergo a medical examination to assess their fitness according to the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1965. Following this, they must pass both theoretical and practical driving tests. Successful candidates are then issued a permanent driving license.

Fees for Car and Motorcycle Driving Licenses in Karachi:

  • The fee for a license valid for three years is Rs1,410.
  • For a five-year license, the fee is Rs1,860.

Additional fixed charges include lamination, Nadra verification, medical examination, courier service fees, and other miscellaneous expenses.
