UAE Schools Shut Down for Two Days Amid Unstable Weather Conditions

The United Arab Emirates has declared a two-day school closure on May 2 and 3 due to unstable weather conditions.

Authorities have allowed schools to adopt distance learning to maintain educational activities on Thursday and Friday.

The decision was made to protect the safety of teachers and students nationwide. This announcement comes shortly after Sharjah resumed in-person classes, which had shifted to online learning from April 16 to April 29 because of adverse weather.

Last month, the UAE experienced a historic storm and record-breaking rainfall that led to widespread flooding, with residents spending nights in their vehicles and disruptions at Dubai airport.

The UAE’s Meteorological Department forecasts that the inclement weather will begin on Wednesday night and will affect most parts of the country by Thursday.

Expected weather conditions include varying intensities of rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning across different regions.
