Late on Saturday, Iran launched a barrage of missiles and drones at Israel, marking Tehran’s first direct assault on Israeli soil. This response came after an Israeli attack on its embassy in Damascus.
The strikes set off alarms in Tel Aviv and other cities across Israel, with videos circulating online showing explosions in the sky as Israeli defenses intercepted the missiles.

In reaction to the escalation, thousands of Iranians took to the streets in a demonstration supporting the retaliatory measures. During these protests, crowds chanted “Death to Israel!” and “Death to America!” while waving Iranian and Palestinian flags. Banners reading “The next slap will be fiercer” and “God’s victory is near” were prominently displayed as the Revolutionary Guards initiated Operation “Honest Promise.”
The Iranian counterattack was a response to the April 1 bombing that targeted the Iranian embassy in Damascus, destroying a consular annex and killing seven members of the Revolutionary Guards, including two generals.
