The Newest Apple Watches Encounter Ghost Touch Problem

The latest lineup of Apple Watches, including the Apple Watch 9 and the Watch Ultra 2, are facing challenges with ghost touch issues, prompting the company to investigate the matter. Ghost touch refers to a common display anomaly where the screen registers touches and swipes even without physical contact.

An internal memo from Apple, as reported by MacRumors, confirms the company’s awareness of the issue and its active inquiry. This memo has been distributed to Apple Authorized Service Providers, indicating a potentially widespread problem.

However, it’s important to note that there isn’t a plethora of online reports regarding ghost touch problems with the Apple Watch. Moreover, similar incidents reported are not recent, though it’s possible that not all affected users have documented their experiences online.

According to the Apple memo, “Some customers may report their Apple Watch Series 9 or Apple Watch Ultra 2 is experiencing false touches on their display.” This suggests that older versions of the Apple Watch are currently unaffected.

The ghost touches can trigger unintended actions like initiating phone calls and interfering with passcode input on the smartwatch. If you’ve encountered these issues with your Apple Watch, you’re not alone.

At present, the cause of the problem remains unclear, as does the timeline for Apple to implement a solution, whether through a software update or otherwise. Additionally, the extent of user reports regarding the bug is uncertain.

There is currently no known temporary fix or workaround for this issue. However, Apple suggests that force restarting or keeping the watch up to date may help alleviate the problem in some cases.
