Samsung Reveals Its First Smart Ring at MWC

After teasing the Galaxy Ring at last month’s Galaxy S24 launch event, Samsung finally introduced its first smart wearable ring at the MWC 2024 Barcelona event. The announcement provides details on the specifications and features of the Galaxy Ring, but there’s no information yet regarding pricing or availability.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring offers heart rate tracking, sleep monitoring, and detection of night movements, with the added capability of alerting users to early signs of sleep apnea. Samsung positions the Galaxy Ring as a companion to the Galaxy Watch, enhancing health and activity tracking throughout the day.

In addition to monitoring daily activity, sleep patterns, resting heart rate, and heart rate variability, it calculates a Vitality score that combines these metrics. Users can set personalized wellness goals and track their progress through Booster Cards, available within the Samsung Health app and offering valuable feedback on their health journey.

The ring sizes are indicated on the inside and available in sizes S to XL (equivalent to US sizes 5 – 13). Departing from the traditional convex appearance of the Oura Ring, Samsung’s design features a sleek concave shape that tapers toward the center. Users can choose from three color options: black, silver, and gold.

Samsung intends to make the Galaxy Ring compatible with all Android phones soon, but it can only be paired with Galaxy smartphones. Details regarding pricing and availability are expected to be disclosed soon.
