The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is scheduled for a meeting today, Tuesday, in Islamabad, with Pakistanis eagerly awaiting the sighting of the Shawwal moon to mark the celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The committee’s Chairman, Maulana Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, will lead the meeting at the Kohsar Complex in anticipation of the moon sighting to herald Eid 2024.
Observing the Shawwal moon is crucial for signalling the conclusion of the Holy Month of Ramadan and the commencement of Eid-ul-Fitr festivities. Simultaneous meetings of other zonal committees will also take place today to gather moon-sighting testimonies.
Maulana Khabir Azad is set to make the formal announcement regarding the moon sighting based on these testimonies during a press conference later.

The Meteorological Department has forecasted a high likelihood of the Shawwal moon being sighted on April 9, suggesting that Eid might be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10.
Eid Holidays 2024 The Pakistani government has declared public holidays from April 10 to 12 in observance of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Regarding the Shawwal moon sighting in Saudi Arabia and the UAE, it has been reported that the moon was not sighted in Saudi Arabia on Monday. Consequently, Saudi Arabia will observe Eid-ul-Fitr 2024 on Wednesday, April 10.
Following this announcement, the court has called on anyone who spots the Shawwal crescent with the naked eye or through telescopes to come forward and record their testimony at the nearest court or report it to the closest centre for assistance in reaching the court.
