The government of Qatar has rolled out a new residency initiative catering to foreigners, extending their stay in the country. Designed for skilled individuals and entrepreneurs, this program grants a five-year residency permit, with the option for renewal.
To qualify as a ‘talented individual,’ applicants must secure an endorsement from a relevant Qatari government authority, demonstrating expertise in one of 13 approved fields such as arts, entertainment, sports, education, or scientific research. Additionally, they must either possess a job offer from a Qatari employer or show proof of financial stability with a minimum of QAR 36,500.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, eligibility requires a business plan endorsed by authorized Qatari incubators like the Qatar Science & Technology Park or Qatar Fintech Hub, with a minimum investment threshold of QAR 250,000.
Government fees for the five-year residency permit are QAR 4,000 for talented individuals and QAR 5,000 for entrepreneurs.
This initiative underscores Qatar’s aim to attract skilled professionals and entrepreneurs, diversifying its revenue streams. The residence permit is anticipated to be available in the coming months.
