In a significant development for Punjab residents, Provincial Health Minister Salman Rafique announced the resumption of free treatment under the Sehat Card program.
Addressing the media in Lahore, Rafique revealed plans to relaunch the Sehat Card initiative in the province, praising the previous PTI government for continuing the program initiated by PML-N.
Earlier, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government also restarted the Health Card Plus program in the province. Health Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah mentioned its expansion from four districts in 2015 to the entire province by 2020.

Recently, the provincial government decided to limit certain medical services under the health card to government hospitals exclusively. A notification from the insurance company to all hospitals, both government and private, outlined restrictions on treatments like C-sections, angiography, and appendix surgeries at government facilities. Additionally, treatments for conditions such as tonsils, stones, and issues related to the eyes and nose will also be confined to government hospitals under the health card.
