Public Outcry Follows Release of Madrassa Teacher Accused of Molesting Minor Boy After Pardon in Tandlianwala

The recent child abuse case involving a seminary cleric in Tandlianwala has once again highlighted the pervasive issue of child sexual abuse in Madrassas, perpetrated by religious teachers.

In the incident, a seminary teacher named Abubakar Muawiyah was accused of molesting a minor boy. However, following conciliation, the accused was released.

Local police took action and arrested Muawiyah for allegedly sexually assaulting the child. Notably, renowned scholar Allama Ibtesam Elahi Zaheer mediated between the parties involved. While the victim’s father forgave the teacher in the name of Allah, activists, and social media users criticized the interference of religious scholars in resolving such cases, advocating for stricter measures to prevent child abuse.

According to the FIR, the accused allegedly attempted to rape the minor boy and fled when caught in the act, brandishing a weapon and threatening area residents.

Although Muawiyah was initially arrested, he was released six days later. Subsequently, video clips surfaced online, depicting him assaulting and mistreating school children.
