PTA Gets 20,000 Telco Complaints in January 2024


In January 2024, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) received 19,160 complaints from telecom consumers against various telecom operators, including cellular mobile operators (CMOs), Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL), long-distance international (LDI) operators, wireless local loop (WLL) operators, and internet service providers (ISPs). Out of these, 19,031 complaints (99.3 percent) were successfully resolved.

Most complaints were against cellular mobile operators (CMOs), with 18,624 complaints received and 18,515 (99.4 percent) resolved by January.

Specifically, complaints were lodged against Jazz, Telenor, Zong, and Ufone. Jazz received 7,968 complaints, with 7,951 (99.8 percent) resolved; Telenor received 3,132 complaints, with 3,091 (98.7 percent) resolved; Zong received 5,237 complaints, with 5,218 (99.6 percent) resolved; and Ufone received 2,257 complaints, with 2,226 (98.6 percent) resolved.

Additionally, the PTA received 171 complaints against basic telephony, with 168 (98.2 percent) successfully addressed, and 351 complaints against ISPs, with 335 (95.4 percent) resolved.
