PTA Conducts Raid on Franchise Selling Illegal SIM Cards in Lahore

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Zonal Office in Lahore, in collaboration with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Circle, conducted a successful raid on a mobile phone company franchise located in Chung, Lahore.

The franchise was discovered to be involved in the illegal issuance of SIM cards.

During the raid, 1,058 active SIM cards were found in stock. The FIA team confiscated these active SIMs along with 12 Biometric Verification System (BVS) devices as evidence. Additionally, one individual was apprehended on the premises by the FIA team.

An FIR has been registered, and the FIA is currently investigating the matter. PTA had previously lodged a complaint with the FIA based on information regarding the illegal issuance of SIM cards through the sales channel.

This raid underscores PTA’s commitment to eliminating the problem of illegal SIM card issuance.
