Pakistan’s 3G/4G User Base Surges by 1.44 Million in December.

The data released by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) indicates a marginal increase in the number of cellular subscribers from 189.26 million in November to 189.44 million by the end of December 2023.

The combined user base for 3G and 4G services in Pakistan witnessed growth, rising from 126.24 million in November to 127.68 million in December.

However, despite these positive trends, cellular teledensity experienced a slight decline from 78.98 percent in November to 78.93 percent in December. The overall teledensity also decreased from 80.06 percent to 80 percent during the same period.

The penetration of Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) showed an increase, climbing from 52.68 percent in November to 53.2 percent in December.

Examining individual service providers, Jazz observed a decrease in its 3G user count from 3.569 million in November to 3.492 million in December. Conversely, Jazz’s 4G users increased from 42.754 million to 43.867 million over the same period.

Zong, on the other hand, witnessed a decline in 3G subscribers from 2.265 million to 2.217 million by the end of December. However, their 4G user base grew from 33.869 million to 34.202 million.

Telenor experienced a decrease in 3G subscribers, dropping from 2.477 million to 2.380 million, while their 4G user count increased from 23.196 million to 23.300 million between November and December.

Ufone reported a decrease in 3G users from 2.230 million to 2.188 million at the end of December. In contrast, Ufone’s 4G users increased from 14.349 million to 14.484 million by the end of December.

These figures provide a comprehensive overview of the dynamic landscape of mobile services in Pakistan, showcasing the shifts in user preferences and technological adoption across various carriers.
