A court in Pakistan has sentenced two seminary students to death for the murder of their teacher over alleged blasphemy.
Additional Sessions Judge-II, Mohammad Jameel, announced the capital punishment for Razia Hanifa and Ayesha Nauman, while also sentencing another student to life imprisonment for the brutal killing of their young teacher.
The tragic incident occurred in mid-2022 when the seminary girls murdered their teacher after claiming to have seen her in a dream where they learned about alleged blasphemy committed by the victim.

The judge imposed a fine of Rs20 lakh each on the convicted students, and levied a Rs10 lakh fine on the third girl who received a life sentence.
The female students, who attended Jamia Islamia Falah Al-Banat in Anjumabad, Dera-Multan Road, assaulted their teacher, Safoora, with a stick at the seminary’s gate before slitting her throat.
The students asserted that they became aware of the teacher’s alleged blasphemy through a dream.
Blasphemy is a highly sensitive issue in Pakistan and can provoke strong reactions and emotions, often resulting in severe consequences.
