In December last year, WhatsApp introduced the feature allowing users to pin messages within one-on-one conversations and group chats. Initially, users were limited to pinning only one message per conversation. However, this has now changed following an announcement by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and WhatsApp head Will Cathcart.
Users can now pin up to three messages in individual and group chats. This feature supports various message types, including text, images, and polls. To pin a message, users must long-press on it, select “Pin” from the menu, and choose the desired duration. The default duration for pinned messages is seven days, but users can pin messages for 24 hours or 30 days. After the chosen duration, messages will be automatically unpinned if not done manually.

In group chats, group admins have the authority to enable members to pin messages. Once a message is pinned, all members of the group receive a notification about it. However, users who join the group after a message has been pinned will not be able to see it. Similarly, those who either lack access to the group chat history or deleted the message prior to it being pinned will also not see it.
