ZTE’s sub-brand, Nubia, introduces its inaugural foldable phone at MWC 2024, capturing attention as the most cost-effective folding phone. Dubbed the Nubia Flip 5G, it adopts a clamshell-style design akin to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip but maintains affordability as its hallmark.
This device is a rebranded version of the ZTE Libero Flip, recently unveiled in Japan.
Design and Display: The Nubia Flip 5G features a 6.9-inch foldable OLED display with a resolution of 1,188 x 2,790 pixels and a silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Complementing the primary screen is a circular 1.43-inch cover display, offering a resolution of 466 x 466 pixels. This secondary display serves various purposes, including a selfie viewfinder and facilitating quick access to calls, media controls, weather updates, and other daily tasks.
Internals and Software: Powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC, this budget-friendly device may not deliver cutting-edge performance or gaming capabilities. With no provision for memory card expansion, users can opt for up to 128GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Running on Android 13, the software may not be the latest iteration, but still offers functionality.

Cameras: The rear circular module houses a 50MP primary camera paired with a 2MP depth sensor capable of recording 4K and 1080p videos at 30 FPS. For selfies, a 16MP front-facing camera is available, capable of recording 1080p videos at 30 FPS.
Battery and Pricing: Equipped with a 4,310mAh battery, the Nubia Flip 5G supports 33W wired charging. Priced at a starting point of $599, Nubia positions the Flip 5G as the most budget-friendly option among folding phones. Color choices include black and gold, with further details on launch dates and market availability yet to be disclosed.
