The Pakistani government has raised fees once again for fast-track passport applications, effective as of May 8.
This fee adjustment comes amidst a backlog in passport clearances, stemming from a shortage of lamination paper. The waiting period has been extended to several months. Despite revenue generation, the department has struggled to clear the backlog. Presently, passports are only being issued to those paying urgent and fast-track fees, leading to a significant accumulation of pending passports.
