Multan Sultans Secure Play-Off Spot with Comfortable Victory over Karachi Kings in PSL Match 19

Multan Sultans clinch a convincing 20-run victory against Karachi Kings at the National Stadium, Karachi, extending their winning streak in the Pakistan Super League, Season 9.

Mohammad Rizwan opted to bat first, winning the toss, partnering with Reeza Hendricks as Mir Hamza opened the bowling for Karachi Kings. Multan Sultans got off to a solid start, accumulating 12 runs in the first.

Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani struck early, dismissing Reeza in the second over. Despite Muzarabani conceding 11 runs in his second over, Multan Sultans managed a commendable powerplay score of 50/1, with Usman Khan’s aggressive 26 being the highlight.

Multan stood at 87/1 at the halfway stage, with Usman (42) and Rizwan (31) steering the innings. Usman reached his half-century off 32 balls in the 12th over, while Rizwan played a supporting role. The onslaught continued as Multan reached 138/1 after 15 overs.

Rizwan completed his fifty in the 16th over but fell shortly after, followed by Iftikhar Ahmed. Usman Khan’s remarkable century in the final over propelled Multan Sultans to a formidable total of 189/3. Blessing Muzarabani emerged as the standout bowler for Karachi Kings, claiming figures of 2/32.

In pursuit of the target, Karachi Kings started with Shan Masood and Tim Seifert. Seifert was run out by David Willey in the second over. Despite Shan’s aggressive start, Karachi Kings lost wickets at regular intervals. Usama Mir dismissed Shan Masood for 36, while Shoaib Malik and Leus du Plooy departed cheaply.

Karachi Kings reached 169/7 at the end of their innings, with Hasan Ali being the last wicket to fall. Multan Sultans’ spin duo of Khushdil Shah and Usama Mir impressed with their economical spells.

Usman Khan’s stellar unbeaten knock of 106 earned him the Player of the Match award.
