Microsoft Confirms Windows 11 24H2 Update; No Windows 12 in 2024
After much speculation, Microsoft has officially announced that the next major update for Windows will be Windows 11 24H2, set to release later this year. This update will debunk rumors of a Windows 12 release in 2024.
The exact release date remains unknown, but Microsoft assures it will be a significant update with new AI features and enhancements.
In a recent Windows Insider blog post, Microsoft stated that Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels will see the versioning updated to 24H2, indicating that Windows 11 24H2 will be this year’s annual feature update.
This announcement contradicts previous rumors about a Windows 12 release. Although details about Windows 11 24H2 are scarce, reports suggest a focus on AI capabilities, taking advantage of new hardware-accelerated Neural Processing Units (NPUs) in PCs.
Expected features include an advanced Copilot and Microsoft’s version of DLSS for gaming performance enhancement.
Since its unveiling in 2021, Windows 11 has seen significant updates and features, currently available on over 400 million monthly active devices. The tech giant seems to be transitioning to an annual feature update cycle for Windows 11, deviating from smaller updates in the past.
