The new government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has recently introduced an online driving license service specifically designed for overseas Pakistanis. This initiative represents a significant step forward in facilitating administrative processes for citizens residing abroad. By extending the online driving license renewal facility, the provincial administration has aimed to streamline and simplify procedures for overseas Pakistanis, acknowledging their importance and contribution to the nation.
With the implementation of this online renewal service, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa became the first region in Pakistan to offer such a facility tailored to overseas citizens. Now, individuals outside the country can conveniently renew their driving licenses through their respective embassies, high commissions, or consulates. This digital platform eliminates the need for physical presence, allowing overseas applicants to complete the renewal process remotely.
To avail of the online renewal service, applicants must submit scanned copies of essential documents, including their passport, ID card, expired driving license, recent medical fitness certificate, and fee challan, via email. These documents are then forwarded to the traffic police by diplomatic missions through official channels, ensuring a seamless and efficient process.

The decision to introduce this online renewal facility stems from the longstanding demand of overseas Pakistanis for more accessible and streamlined administrative services. By addressing this demand, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa demonstrates its commitment to serving the needs of the Pakistani diaspora and enhancing their overall experience with governmental processes.
KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has underlined the significance of overseas Pakistanis and reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting and facilitating them. This proactive approach acknowledges the vital role overseas citizens play and reflects the government’s responsiveness to their needs and concerns.
Moreover, introducing electronic driving licenses in Punjab further complements these efforts to modernize administrative processes and enhance service delivery. Citizens in Punjab can now apply for and download their driving licenses in PDF format through the Driving License Information Management System (DLIMS) website, further advancing the digitization of regional administrative services.
