James Anderson Makes History as First Fast Bowler to Claim 700 Test Wickets

England fast bowler James Anderson reached a significant milestone in Test cricket by claiming his 700th wicket during the 5th Test match against India at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Stadium.

In his illustrious career spanning 187 Test matches, the legendary English fast bowler has amassed 32 five-wicket hauls.

At 41 years old, Anderson stands behind only two cricketing legends, Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan, as the third cricketer ever to achieve this remarkable milestone, a testament to his longevity and consistency in the sport.

Despite India’s dominant performance, defeating England by an innings and 64 runs in the 5th Test match and clinching the Test series 4-1 at home, Anderson’s achievement provided a rare positive moment for the England team in the final match.

Additionally, British-Pakistani spinner Shoaib Bashir contributed with a 5-wicket haul for England in the same match, showcasing his skillful variations on the pitch, which greatly assisted the spinners with turn and bounce.

James Anderson’s name now stands alongside cricketing greats such as Shane Warne, Muttiah Muralitharan, Anil Kumble, and his former bowling partner Stuart Broad in the annals of cricket history.
