Jahangir Tareen Resigns as Chairman of IPP

Jahangir Khan Tareen has announced his resignation as the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) Chairman and his withdrawal from political involvement following his recent defeat in the 2024 general elections. The prominent business figure conveyed this decision through the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), expressing appreciation to his supporters during the election and congratulating his opponents. In his statement, he underscored his deep respect for the Pakistani people’s choice, leading him to step down from his role as Chairman of IPP and exit the political arena entirely.

Tareen acknowledged his electoral losses in NA-155 and NA-149, constituencies previously considered his strongholds, where he faced defeat against candidates backed by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). Despite these setbacks, he maintained an optimistic outlook, extending well wishes to all IPP members and affirming his commitment to serving the nation in a private capacity, focusing on contributing to its prosperity.

My heartfelt appreciation to all IPP members. I wish them the very best. With the blessings of Allah, I will continue to serve my country to the best of my ability in a private capacity,” concluding with prayers for Pakistan’s prosperity.
