Islamabad United Secures Convincing Victory Over Quetta Gladiators in PSL 9
In a thrilling encounter at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 39 runs in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 9. With this win, Islamabad United has advanced to the Eliminator 2, joining Peshawar Zalmi in what is being deemed as a virtual semi-final.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Islamabad United witnessed a strong start with openers Martin Guptill and Alex Hales taking on the Quetta Gladiators’ bowling attack. Guptill’s aggressive innings, supported by Hales’ quickfire shots, set the tone for United’s innings.
Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Islamabad put up a competitive total of 174/9 on the board, largely thanks to Guptill’s half-century and valuable contributions from other batsmen.
Chasing a target of 175, Quetta Gladiators struggled from the outset, losing wickets quickly during the powerplay overs. Despite a spirited effort from Omair bin Yousuf, who scored a valiant fifty, Quetta fell short of the target and was bowled out for 135.
