Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan intends to draft a letter addressed to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), urging for an audit of the recently conducted elections to be linked with discussions concerning Pakistan.
During a media interaction in Rawalpindi on Thursday, PTI’s Senator Ali Zafar disclosed that the letter would be dispatched by the party’s founder today.
He elaborated that various organizations, including the IMF and the European Union (EU), have protocols stipulating the necessity of good governance for engagement or financial assistance in a country.

The senator emphasized that democracy stands as a pivotal component of good governance, and asserted that the people’s mandate was compromised during the February 8 elections. He further contended that any organization would hesitate to extend financial aid to a country where elections were marred by irregularities.
Zafar outlined that Khan’s correspondence with the IMF would propose conditioning talks on Pakistan with the completion of an audit in constituencies where electoral fraud was detected.
It is noteworthy that the IMF, in its Staff Report following the First Review under the $3 billion Stand-by Arrangement, acknowledged a statement from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf underscoring the significance of transparent elections for the effective implementation of the Fund-supported program.
