Asif Zardari Likely to Become President of Pakistan

The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and other members of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) are teaming up to form a government together after the February 8 elections. Since no single party won enough seats to have a majority in the National Assembly, they’re forming a coalition government.

In this new government, familiar faces will take on important roles. The PPP has chosen Asif Ali Zardari to be the president, his second time in this position. Zardari is well-known in Sindh, where he owns a lot of land. He was also the husband of the late Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and has held positions like Federal Investment Minister and Chairperson of the Pakistan Environmental Protection Council.

After discussions among party leaders, the PPP made a deal with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to get key roles like the senate chairman and provincial governors. This shows how different parties are working together strategically to govern effectively.

The coalition government includes various parties like the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Pakistan Muslim League (PML), Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), and the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP). They met at Chaudhary Shujaat Hussain’s house to discuss their plans for governing together.

Choosing Asif Ali Zardari as president shows that the coalition values experienced leadership. Their goal is to tackle Pakistan’s challenges and promote progress and stability. With different parties involved, it’s clear they believe in a united approach to governing the country.
