Tech giant Google, known for offering various training and certification programs for educators to optimize their use of its tools, is now launching smart schools in Pakistan.

In collaboration with its local partner Tech Valley, Google has decided to set up 50 smart schools across the nation, which has a population exceeding 240 million.

This development followed a meeting between Google’s Education team and the Secretary of the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, focusing on the future of Pakistan’s education sector.

These schools will be equipped with 30,000 Google for Education IDs that incorporate AI-powered features like practice sets, along with a suite of digital tools aimed at boosting collaboration and productivity.

Additional initiatives discussed include conducting teacher workshops using Google for Education tools, establishing a public Google Reference School, training 2,000 youths in job-ready skills through the Google Career Certificates program, and potentially collaborating on an Edutech event with the Ministry of Federal Education in Pakistan.

Last month, Google reaffirmed its commitment to empowering women on International Women’s Day, recognizing that equipping women with essential skills and resources could lead to a future of increased equality, inclusion, and prosperity.

Google aims to close these gaps by launching various programs that promote equality and women’s empowerment in the workforce. One notable initiative is the Google Career Certificates program, introduced in Pakistan in 2022, with more than half of the program’s scholarships awarded to women to enhance their access to economic opportunities and support their professional ambitions.
