Shocking Survey Results on the Death Penalty in Pakistan Revealed!

Death penalty remains a contentious issue worldwide, particularly in developing nations such as Pakistan where it is commonly applied for severe crimes and terrorism.

Surprisingly, a recent survey indicates that a majority of Pakistanis are in favor of maintaining the death penalty. According to the results from a Gallup poll, 45% of Pakistanis support capital punishment for individuals convicted of egregious crimes.

Conversely, 39% of respondents oppose the death penalty on the principle that taking a life is unjustifiable under any circumstances.

Additionally, 11% of participants were ambivalent, neither supporting nor opposing capital punishment, while 5% chose not to respond to the question regarding their stance on the death penalty in Pakistan.

Recent statistics reveal that Pakistan ranks among the countries with the highest number of condemned prisoners. Currently, approximately 6,039 inmates are on death row across the country, predominantly in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces. Of these prisoners, 99% are male and only 62 are women.
