The spouses of both Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his predecessor Imran Khan appear to have higher net worths than their husbands, according to official documents. Statements of assets submitted to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the fiscal year that ends on June 30, 2020 reveal that Imran Khan owns assets such as four goats worth 200,000 PKR, a 300-kanal villa in Banigala, and inherited assets, one of which was a home in Zaman Park, Lahore and extensive farmland. His total wealth is indicated to be around 60 million PKR in bank accounts, $329,196, and 518 pounds in Pakistani foreign currency accounts.
In contrast, Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, has a net worth of 142.11 million PKR, owning four properties, including a house in Banigala. Nusrat Shehbaz, the first wife of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, possesses wealth worth 230.29 million PKR, with nine agricultural properties and a house in each Lahore and Hazara divisions. Shehbaz Sharif’s own wealth is reported to be 104.21 million PKR, with liabilities totaling 141.78 million PKR. His second wife, Tehmina Durrani, has a consistent wealth of around 5.76 million PKR.
On the other hand, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, the chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister, is declared a billionaire with a total wealth of 1.6 billion PKR. However, a significant portion of his wealth is noted to be located outside the country.
