Pakistan’s PM Meets Saudi Prince After Umrah

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Sunday, emphasizing the shared commitment to deepen the ties between Islamabad and Riyadh.

During his three-day visit to the Kingdom, where he also performed Umrah, PM Sharif and his delegation, which included Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, were guests at an Iftar dinner hosted by MBS at Al-Safa Palace in Mecca.

The Saudi state-run media reported that the Crown Prince hosted the Iftar in Mecca, attended by the Pakistani Prime Minister and the Crown Prince of Bahrain, marking the occasion with a shared breaking of the fast.

The meeting, characterized by a warm welcome from the Saudi Crown Prince, covered discussions on enhancing bilateral relations mutual interests, and trade and investment initiatives.

A special Iftar invitation was extended to the Pakistani delegation, an event that also saw the participation of Maryam Nawaz and various federal cabinet members.

The visit by Pakistan’s Prime Minister and senior officials aimed at reinforcing bilateral relationships and discussing development projects, notably the potential Saudi investment in the Reko Diq mining project.

This visit highlights the strong religious and cultural bonds the two Islamic countries share, with a mutual focus on boosting economic and investment partnerships.
