The Japanese government has simplified Indian travel procedures by introducing an e-visa service.
Under this new initiative, Indian travelers planning to visit Japan will no longer require physical visa stickers on their passports starting April 1st. Instead, they can utilize the Japan eVisa program, allowing electronic visa applications through Japan Visa Application Centers managed by VFS Global.
This development offers a single-entry short-term visa tailored specifically for tourism purposes, granting a maximum stay of 90 days in Japan.

Both Indian citizens and foreign nationals residing in India are eligible to apply for this visa.
The application process remains the same, with the only distinction being that successful applicants will receive an electronic visa instead of a traditional visa sticker affixed to their passports.
Upon arrival at the airport, travelers must present a “visa issuance notice” on their smartphones, requiring internet access for this step.
It’s important to note that authorities will only accept a digital visa issuance notice; other formats such as PDFs, photos, screenshots, or printed copies will not be accepted to prevent the issuance of counterfeit visas.
