Man who burned Quran in Sweden reportedly ‘found dead’ in Norway – Salwan Momika

Salwan Momika, known for his involvement in Quran-burning incidents in Sweden, has reportedly been discovered deceased in Norway.

The controversial Islamic critic had sought asylum in Norway after being expelled from Sweden following the episode.

Originally a Christian who later identified as an atheist, Momika, an immigrant from Iraq, characterized himself as “a liberal atheist critic and thinker.”

In June 2023, he ignited a copy of the holy Quran outside Stockholm’s main mosque on the eve of Eid al-Adha, an act captured on video by his friend.

Social media reports suggest that the 37-year-old immigrant was found dead in Norway.

“An announcement regarding Momika’s death, which reached over 1 million impressions, has been deleted. Further confirmation is awaited,” Radio Genoa posted on X shortly after the news broke.
