Gujarat Titans vs Mumbai Indians: Fan Fight Erupts at Ahmedabad Stadium

During the fifth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season between the Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians on Sunday (March 25), tensions flared in the stands at the Narendra Modi Stadium despite the match starting after sunset. A few spectators turned violent, engaging in physical altercations that were captured in a video circulating online. The cause of the brawl remains unclear.

Meanwhile, the match was a thrilling contest on the field that kept spectators on the edge of their seats. Mumbai Indians, led by newly appointed skipper Hardik Pandya, won the toss and opted to field. Their decision paid off as their bowling attack restricted the hosts to a modest total of 168 runs in 20 overs.

Facing early setbacks, with opener Ishan Kishan departing for a duck and Naman Dhir falling with just 30 runs on the board, former Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma (43 off 29 balls) led a strong fightback alongside MI’s overseas signing Dewald Brevis (46 off 38 balls).

The duo stitched together a crucial partnership of 77 runs for the third wicket before Rohit was dismissed by left-arm orthodox bowler R Sai Kishore in the 13th over. Rohit’s innings, characterized by a strike rate 148.27, included seven fours and a six, placing Mumbai Indians in a commanding position.

However, despite the efforts of Rohit and Brevis, the Gujarat Titans’ bowlers staged a remarkable comeback to secure victory, much to the delight of the home crowd.
