Tariq Bugti has been elected as the new president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, with the nomination coming from the prime minister.
A special congress convened at the Pakistan Sports Complex in Islamabad saw representatives from the Pakistan Sports Board and the Pakistan Olympic Association in attendance. Of the 93 members present, 62 voted for Tariq Bugti, granting him a two-thirds majority.
Following his election, Tariq Baig, the newly appointed president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, stated that they would scrutinize those involved in creating parallel federations and offer them a chance to clarify their actions. He stressed that the federation’s doors are open and pledged to leverage all available resources to advance hockey. Additionally, he announced plans for a major hockey tournament to be held in Quetta after Eid.

Notably, just two days prior, at a congress held at a local hotel in Karachi, Shela Raza, a member of the National Assembly of the Pakistan Peoples Party, was elected president of the Pakistan Hockey Federation.
