Mohsin Naqvi Expected to Depart PCB for Key Role in PM Shehbaz’s Cabinet

Mohsin Naqvi is reportedly on the verge of leaving his top position at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), as indicated by broadcast journalist Muneeb Farooq.

Speculation suggests that Naqvi might transition to a significant role in the federal cabinet, potentially as the Interior Minister, amidst the unveiling of names for the new national coalition.

For this transition to materialize, Naqvi would likely need to secure a position as a Senator in the Upper House, with elections scheduled for later in March following the conclusion of multiple lawmakers’ six-year terms.

Alternatively, he could be appointed as the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Interior.

Naqvi’s appointment to the PCB’s Board of Governors by the Caretaker Prime Minister has already faced legal challenge in the Islamabad High Court.

The petitioner has argued that a Caretaker PM lacks the authority to appoint an individual as the head of PCB, asserting that such prerogative rests with the elected Prime Minister.
