The Federal Government Takes Bold Step to Strengthen Satellite Communication Infrastructure

In a significant move aimed at enhancing its satellite communication capabilities, the Federal Government has announced a mandatory directive under the National Space Policy. The directive emphasizes the leasing of capacity solely from national communication satellites. Exceptions may be made only when required capacity is unavailable on national platforms, allowing recourse to registered satellite operators.

The National Space Agency has been assigned the responsibility of acquiring, processing, and disseminating satellite imagery and products, both from national and foreign satellites. This initiative aims to bolster the country’s capabilities in satellite-based reconnaissance and surveillance, catering to the operational needs of government bodies domestically and internationally.

Additionally, Pakistan’s remote sensing satellite data and imagery are expected to play a crucial role in advancing the management and sustainable utilization of natural resources. This move will empower government ministries, divisions, and agencies at both federal and provincial levels to optimize resource allocation, streamline operations, and enhance governance practices.

The National Space Agency is dedicated to developing necessary capabilities and providing support to government entities for optimal utilization of space technology applications. Through strategic collaboration and investment in space infrastructure, Pakistan aims to become a regional leader in satellite communication and resource management, fostering national resilience and driving sustainable development initiatives.
