Multan Sultans Dominant Over Lahore Qalandars in 14th PSL Season 9 Match
In the 14th match of Pakistan Super League Season 9 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, Multan Sultans emerged victorious over Lahore Qalandars by a significant margin of 60 runs.
Multan Sultans won the toss and elected to bat first. Mohammad Rizwan and Reeza Hendricks commenced the innings, facing the new ball delivered by Shaheen Shah Afridi. However, Rizwan departed for a duck in the first over. Hendricks capitalized on Shaheen’s second over, striking two boundaries. George Linde also faced the brunt, conceding 11 runs in the fifth over. The powerplay ended with Multan at 53-1, largely due to Hendricks’ contribution of 34 runs. Sikandar Raza claimed Hendricks’ wicket in the ninth over, but Usman Khan continued the onslaught with a quick 45 off 26 balls. Usman reached his fifty in the 12th over at an impressive strike rate of 161. Multan maintained a brisk run rate, finishing at 151-3 after 15 overs. The strategic timeout followed Tayyab Tahir’s dismissal for 21 in the 15th over. Despite a bouncer causing a scare to Iftikhar Ahmed, he bounced back to hit two sixes in the same over. Usman’s stellar innings concluded at 96 off Shaheen’s bowling in the last over, with Multan posting 214-4, aided by Iftikhar’s 18-ball 40. Shaheen was the standout bowler for Lahore, ending with figures of 4-0-39-2.
