Google’s involvement will focus on implementing more content-centric displays of Reddit information, aiming to enhance user engagement within the platform’s unique discussions. Furthermore, Google intends to utilize the Reddit Data API to gain deeper insights into content and refine its search engine’s ability to present information accurately and contextually.
Despite this expanded partnership, Google assures that its utilization of publicly available crawlable content for indexing and displaying Google products will remain unchanged. Additionally, Reddit has recently partnered with an undisclosed AI company, agreeing to a $60 million per year contract allowing its content to be used for AI training purposes.
This news follows Reddit’s announcement of plans for its initial public offering (IPO). With a total revenue of $249.8 million, Reddit aims to list its shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol RDDT.
