Oppo Affirms Commitment to Foldable Technology

Last week, a speculative rumor, initially acknowledged for its lack of credibility, suggested that both Oppo and Vivo were contemplating a complete exit from the foldable smartphone market due to notably lower sales in 2023. This notion raised eyebrows, especially considering the substantial investments both companies had made in foldable technology. However, recent developments indicate that at least in Oppo’s case, this rumor is far from accurate.

Oppo promptly reached out to refute the aforementioned speculation and reassure the public that their commitment to advancing foldable technology remains steadfast. This comes as a relief, considering Oppo’s noteworthy presence in the global market. While Oppo may not have achieved considerable success in the foldable space within developed regions, the OnePlus Open, essentially a globally marketed version of the Oppo Find N3, received acclaim as the top large-size book-style foldable of 2023.

The denial of rumors surrounding Oppo’s withdrawal from the foldable market implies that enthusiasts can anticipate the release of the OnePlus Open 2 and the Find N4 Flip. An Oppo spokesperson emphasized this commitment in the following statement

“Oppo’s dedication to the continuous development of foldable smartphone technology remains unchanged. Please stay tuned for our official updates and announcements.”

With Oppo clarifying its stance, attention now turns to Vivo, awaiting their response. The mobile industry is known for its unpredictable twists, but for now, the crisis of a potential exit from foldable technology by Oppo seems to have been averted.
