Peshawar Zalmi Loses Again, Karachi Kings Get First Win in HBL PSL 9

The day began with Karachi Kings winning the toss and opting to field first.

Shoaib Malik made an early breakthrough by dismissing Saim Ayub for a golden duck. Peshawar Zalmi lost two more wickets during the powerplay, but Babar Azam stabilized the innings with a score of 72 runs (7 fours, 1 six) at a healthy strike rate of 141. Rovman Powell contributed 39 runs (3 fours, 2 sixes) as a supportive partner to Babar.

Karachi’s bowlers put up an impressive performance, with Shoaib Malik conceding only three runs and taking a wicket in his solitary over. Mir Hamza was economical, claiming 3 wickets for 28 runs in his 4 overs. Daniel Sams and Hasan Ali also took crucial wickets.

In the chase, Karachi Kings got off to a solid start with Shan Masood and Mohammad Akhlaq opening. Although the top order scored at a modest rate, Kieron Pollard’s explosive innings of 49 runs (4 fours, 6 sixes) off 21 balls paved the way for Karachi Kings to comfortably chase the target. Luke Wood, Salman Irshad, and Aamer Jamal bowled tight spells but couldn’t contain Pollard’s onslaught.

Mir Hamza, with his impressive bowling figures, was named the Player of the Match.
