The latest beta version of WhatsApp introduces several notable changes to enhance the app’s user experience, including a revamped status tab. This update, observed in version 2.24.4.23 for Android, aims to address user feedback regarding inefficiencies in the previous layout.
Moving away from the previous horizontal layout and profile picture identification, the new design adopts a more intuitive approach. Users can now preview status updates directly from the top tray of the updates tab, where thumbnail previews of the initial shared status are displayed. This allows for a quick overview of the content without the need to open each status update individually.
WhatsApp’s redesign focuses on improving browsing experience by featuring large thumbnails for previews, enabling users to swiftly determine which updates to explore further. Additionally, the positioning and visibility of Channel posts within the Updates tab, covering both Status and Channel updates, have been influenced by this redesign. The adoption of a card-style format for status updates enhances their prominence, potentially altering the display of Channel updates.

Furthermore, WhatsApp is planning to introduce several other minor updates, including the ability to transfer Channel ownership, designate favorite contacts for quick access, disable reactions in channels, automatic account creation, a new interface for channels list, and various bug fixes addressing numerous issues.
These updates are currently available in the beta version of WhatsApp, and it remains uncertain when they will be rolled out to the stable version. We will provide further updates as they become available
