Health Ministry Stops People from Drinking Soft Drinks

The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination has forbidden the consumption of sugary drinks during official meetings within the ministry and its associated departments.

The main goal of this ban is to create a healthier work environment and support the government’s efforts towards public health.

The Federal Ministry of Health issued an official notice, instructing to avoid sweetened products during official gatherings. This decision comes from the Health Minister’s observation that sugary drinks can lead to both communicable and non-communicable diseases.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s dedication to implementing effective measures against these diseases. Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan revealed that the federal government has initiated a comprehensive program worth Rs6.8 billion to prevent diabetes.

Dr. Jan also highlighted the significant reforms carried out by the ministry to enhance the health sector in a short span of time.

He acknowledged the harmful effects of sugary drinks on people of all ages and emphasized the importance of safeguarding everyone from the negative impacts of excessive sugar intake, especially through beverages.
