NACTA Warns of Potential Terrorist Attacks in Karachi
The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA) has issued a threat alert for Karachi, highlighting the risk of terrorist attacks targeting major locations throughout the provincial capital.
According to a statement from the internal security agency, there is a credible threat of terrorist elements aiming to strike key government buildings or installations in the city. The alert specifically mentions the Sindh Assembly, CM House Sindh, Press Club Karachi, Sindh High Court, hospitals, and schools as potential targets, urging heightened vigilance and strict monitoring of these locations.
NACTA emphasizes the importance of maintaining elevated levels of vigilance and implementing enhanced security measures to deter any potential incidents. The issuance of this alert coincides with an increase in terrorist activities nationwide, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, following the breakdown of a ceasefire between the government and the banned militant group Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan in November 2022.
