Pakistan Women’s Baseball Team Clinches 17th Position in World Rankings

The Pakistan women’s baseball team has made significant strides, securing the 17th position in the latest Women’s Baseball World Rankings, climbing two spots from their previous rank of 19. This achievement marks a notable improvement for the team, with their highest historical ranking standing at 12.

Having previously participated in the Baseball Women’s World Cup and the last two editions of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) Asian Cup, the team has showcased its dedication to the sport. In the 2017 Women’s Asian Cup, they achieved a commendable 6th place finish, although they faced challenges in the 2019 edition, ending up in the 8th position.

In a display of their capabilities, the Pakistan women’s team delivered a dominant performance against Malaysia in Lahore in March 2022, securing convincing victories with scorelines of 12-0, 18-7, and 16-5.

In an effort to further promote the sport and provide valuable exposure to the players, the Pakistan Federation of Baseball (PFB) extended an invitation to the Indian baseball team to participate in a tri-nation series, alongside Malaysia, to be held in Lahore from April 15 to 22. PFB President Fakhar Ali Shah confirmed the event’s details, highlighting the inclusion of the women’s team in the tri-nation series as a significant opportunity for them.

This upcoming series not only represents a positive initiative for the growth of baseball in the region but also serves as a promising platform for the Pakistan women’s team to showcase their skills. It will mark their first competitive outing since their successful series against Malaysia in 2022, offering them a chance to further establish themselves on the international stage.
