Punjab Declares 6 Holidays for Schools, Colleges, and Universities

In preparation for the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8th, the Provincial Cabinet of Punjab has made a significant decision regarding educational institutions across the province. An extended holiday period has been announced, affecting all public and private sector schools, colleges, and universities in Punjab.

From February 6th to February 9th, these educational institutions will remain closed, allowing for a smooth and uninterrupted election process. This four-day closure coincides with the Kashmir Day holiday on February 5th, followed by February 4th, which falls on a Sunday, effectively extending the holiday streak to six days.

Moreover, a temporary change in school timings has been introduced, with the start time set at 9:30 am only until February 3rd. Following this period, regular school hours will resume as usual.

This decision is crucial in facilitating the logistical arrangements and ensuring the security measures necessary for conducting fair and peaceful elections. By closing educational institutions, authorities aim to minimize disruptions and allow ample space for election-related activities.

It’s anticipated that similar announcements regarding holiday periods and adjustments in school timings will be made by other provinces in the lead-up to the general elections. This coordinated effort reflects the commitment to conducting the electoral process efficiently and without any hindrances.
