12-Year-Old Boy in Lahore Takes His Own Life Over Denied Phone Access by Mother

In Lahore’s Raiwind area, a tragic incident unfolded as a 12-year-old boy, Muhammad Ayan, took his own life after his mother denied him access to a mobile phone and left to visit neighbors. Upon her return, she discovered her son had hanged himself using a string attached to a piece of cane wood on the wall of their home.

Similarly, in July of the previous year, another heartbreaking event occurred in Hyderabad, where an 18-year-old named Taha Sheikh ended his life by hanging from a tree in the Pretabad area under the Pinyari police station’s jurisdiction.

The police reported that Taha’s father, Imran Sheikh, frequently admonished his son for his excessive mobile phone use, which he believed was negatively impacting Taha’s eyesight, education, and social interactions.

On the day of the tragedy, Imran confiscated Taha’s mobile phone and scolded him for his constant engagement with the device. Unfortunately, Taha ignored his father’s concerns, leading to a devastating outcome.
