Attack on IRGC Headquarters in Sistan-Baluchestan Results in 11 Iranian Security Personnel Deaths

Iranian state media reported that an assault on an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) base in the southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province, bordering Afghanistan and Pakistan, resulted in the deaths of at least 11 Iranian security personnel.

The incident, involving the towns of Chabahar and Rask, marked one of the most severe attacks by Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni militant group. In the counteraction that ensued overnight, the security forces killed 16 assailants from Jaish al-Adl.

The assault was characterized by gunmen targeting multiple security and military sites simultaneously, with some attackers wearing suicide vests, according to state TV reports. The clashes extended for several hours, although the attackers did not achieve their objective of capturing the IRGC headquarters in Chabahar and Rask, as stated by Deputy Interior Minister Majid Mirahmadi.
